Business Developmen Executive - Singapore






This position will have responsibility for driving market share and qualifying leads. The Business Development Executive will follow up on inquiries, pre?qualify leads, and develop to the point of Sales closure. In addition to inbound inquiries, the Business Development Specialist will perform prospecting, marketing event outreach and sales development functions to build a pipeline within targeted accounts designated by management.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and pitch to potential new clients and establish a robust pipeline of opportunities
  • Source for potential clients by scanning and identifying potential business opportunities on multiple platforms and through networking
  • Achieve or exceed goal for qualified leads to Sales on a monthly basis.
  • Conduct general market research to understand industry and client needs
  • Develop and Manage client relations by working closely with potential customers and partners
  • Update lead status and all prospect interaction daily
  • Drafts marketing materials for marketing visits
  • Schedules, coordinates and tracks meetings, marketing activities and correspondence with clients
  • Provides support throughout the tender process, from drafting of proposals, preparing pre-qualification documentation, performing due diligence checks, coordinating cost estimation activities, drafting responses to enquiries and scheduling of meetings
  • Liaises with yard engineering, production, procurement, subcontractors to develop initial cost estimates and project timeline based on client specifications and drawings
  • Coordinates with engineering and external consultants to incorporate design schematics and technical details into proposals where required
  • Drafts contract documentation and administers contract terms based on legal and customer requirements, liaising with legal team when required
  • Prepares contract changes through variation orders as required
  • Generates billing invoices and documentation for progressive payment and prepares work completion certificates to ensure timely payment as stipulated in the contract
  • Support the Vice President Commercial in meeting the department’s target and to undertake additional cross-functional duties and projects as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant discipline is preferred. Minimum 2 years of business development role and commercial experience (e.g. Sales, Contract Management, Estimation, Proposals, Marketing, etc.) in Shipyard or Marine related industry
  • Technical knowledge in the marine related trade and regulations also knowledge in various aspects of ship repair, offshore new-build and/or module and/or vessel conversion
  • Knowledge and conversant of all works performed in the yard (i.e. Machinery Work, hull and steel work, pipe work, electrical work, blasting and painting work, etc.)
  • Knowledge of tendering procedures, project management, contract management, cost and bid analysis
  • A 'people' person with a service-oriented mindset, strong self-starter with excellent networking and persuasion skills
  • Portray a professional image, pleasant and well mannered
  • Excellent proficiency in English (both written and spoken)
