Fleet Technical Manager

JOB SUMMARY :

To ensure the safe operation of the ships to which he has been assigned and to provide a link between the Company and those on board to monitor the safety and pollution prevention aspects of the operation and to ensure that adequate resources and shore-based support are applied as required.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITY :

  • Supervise the vessels under his responsibility, ensuring the technical superintendent works effectively & efficiently.
  • Approve the work required for vessel maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensure crew management for the engine room is well managed in terms of quality (knowledge).
  • Ensure strategic plans for the fleet so that vessels are in optimal condition (running well/smoothly and free of problems). – implementation of PMS (Planned Maintenance System)
  • Collaboration with other departments (marine, crewing, purchasing) ensures optimum operations for all onboard machineries.
  • Implement a policy of maintaining minimum operational, maintenance & repair costs in accordance with safe & efficient fleet operation standards to meet company standards and ship commercial requirements, keeping "off-hire time" to a minimum.
  • Implement and monitor the PMS (Planned Maintenance System) running well on the assigned fleet/vessel.
  • Monitor inventory control and spare parts, ship performance, comply with applicable safety (maritime industry) & pollution prevention regulations, certification status of vessels and ensure vessels are in sailing condition
  • Controlling routine vessel inspections by superintendents, carrying out dry docking and other major repairs.
  • Give approval for the purchase of materials / spare parts proposed by the superintendent.
  • Develop the team and ensure implementation of each SOP.

 

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Marine Engineer Class 1 (COC Marine Engineer Class 1) / ATT - 1 (Ahli Teknika Tingkat 1)
  • Sailing experience as Chief Engineer at oil / chemical / gas tanker for at least 5 contract, have working experience as technical superintendent for at least 3 years
  • Having vast knowledge for machineries onboard oil/chemical/gas tanker, also familiar with dry-docking
  • Possess good analytical thinking, proactive, good leadership and able to work Collaboratively
  • Good English skills
