About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Process / Safety Engineer to support the technical development, conversion, commissioning, and operational readiness of LNG/FSRU projects.

The role will be responsible for reviewing and validating process engineering deliverables, evaluating critical process equipment, leading process safety activities, managing technical interfaces with EPC contractors and vendors, and supporting commissioning and performance testing.

Key Responsibilities

Design Review & Verification

  • Review and validate EPC and vendor engineering deliverables, including Heat & Material Balances, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and other process engineering documentation.

  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with approved project specifications, applicable standards, and operational requirements.

  • Identify technical gaps, inconsistencies, and potential design risks and coordinate appropriate resolutions.

Equipment Sizing & Evaluation

  • Review and validate the sizing and selection of critical process equipment, including:

    • LNG regasification packages

    • LNG regasification feed pumps

    • Boil-Off Gas (BOG) compressors

    • Seawater pumps

    • Nitrogen packages

    • Instrument air packages

    • Other LNG/FSRU process and utility systems

  • Evaluate equipment performance, technical specifications, and suitability for the intended operating conditions.

  • Provide technical recommendations and support resolution of equipment-related engineering issues.

Process Safety

  • Lead and/or participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) activities, including:

    • HAZID

    • HAZOP

    • SIL determination

    • LOPA

  • Review process safety studies and ensure identified risks are appropriately addressed through design and operational safeguards.

  • Support the development and implementation of process safety requirements for vessel conversion and LNG/FSRU operations.

  • Ensure process safety considerations are incorporated into engineering design, commissioning, and operational procedures.

Interface Management

  • Act as the primary technical interface between the Owner, EPC conversion contractor, shipyard, engineering teams, and equipment vendors on process-related matters.

  • Coordinate the resolution of technical issues, design changes, engineering queries, and interface matters.

  • Monitor technical deliverables and ensure agreed actions are properly followed up and closed.

  • Provide technical input during project meetings and engineering reviews.

Commissioning & Acceptance

  • Monitor and provide technical oversight during pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and performance testing activities.

  • Review commissioning procedures, test results, and performance data.

  • Verify that the plant and process systems meet approved functional specifications, performance requirements, and gas send-out quality requirements.

  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of process-related issues during commissioning and start-up.

  • Participate in final acceptance and technical handover activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Master's Degree is an advantage.

  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in process engineering, with at least 5–8 years of relevant experience in LNG/FSRU design, operations, engineering, or shipyard conversion projects.

  • Experience in FPSO projects will also be considered.

  • Strong technical knowledge of:

    • LNG regasification technologies

    • Cryogenic systems

    • Gas treatment systems

    • LNG/FSRU process and utility systems

    • Process safety engineering

  • Familiarity with relevant Class Society rules, including DNV and/or ABS.

  • Good knowledge of applicable industry standards and codes, including API, ASME, and ISO.

  • Advanced proficiency in process simulation and hydraulic analysis software such as Aspen HYSYS, UniSim, ProMax, or equivalent.

  • Strong experience in reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, Heat & Material Balances, equipment sizing, and process engineering calculations.

  • Proven experience in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, and other process safety methodologies.

  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical capabilities.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly when working with Owners, EPC contractors, shipyards, and international vendors.

  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken.

  • Willing to undertake shipyard, vessel, offshore, and project-site visits as required.

  • Valid offshore/site medical certification or willingness to obtain the required certification is preferred/required for relevant assignments.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in LNG terminals, FSRU conversion projects, FPSO projects, shipyard conversion, EPC projects, or offshore energy facilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
